Scholarships and Apprenticeships

MTC assists emerging Manitoban artists with their education by offering scholarships and apprenticeships.

The application deadline for the 2011/12 academic year/theatre season has passed.

2012/13 Scholarship Application Form

Jean Murray-Moray Sinclair Theatre Scholarship
In recognition and celebration of two Winnipeg personalities who contributed to our theatre’s development, MTC established the Jean Murray–Moray Sinclair Theatre Scholarship almost 50 years ago. Since its creation, the fund has financially assisted more than 400 Manitobans aspiring to a career in professional theatre with over 700 scholarships and apprenticeships. The fund is sustained by MTC’s patrons, who generously respond each season as we “pass the prop” during the run of one John Hirsch Theatre production.

Scholarships – Awards funding to full-time students attending accredited theatre schools, or university theatre programs, who intend to pursue a career in theatre.

Apprenticeships – Awards work-experience positions to emerging professional artists and craftspeople who have completed accredited post-secondary training within the past two academic years and are looking for opportunities to gain experience in professional theatre.

Naomi Levin Theatre Scholarship
Established in 1976, this scholarship is dedicated to Naomi Levin, who was associated with MTC for a number of years. Naomi Levin Theatre Scholarships are available to persons studying production/technical aspects of theatre. To qualify, applicants must be attending an accredited theatre production program, or be apprenticed to a professional theatre.
