BACKSTAGE PASS
Theatre perspectives for students

Backstage Pass is a free high school subscription program that takes place over six Wednesdays during the academic year. Applications are open to all students in grades 11 and 12 with a keen interest in the performing arts, giving them an opportunity to take an in-depth look at theatre. No experience is necessary – just a love of theatre and willingness to learn and have fun!

Each session starts at 10 am with a workshop tailored to our current John Hirsch Mainstage production and is led by a member of Manitoba’s professional theatre community. Past topics have included the audition process, stage combat, dialects, set design, playwriting and more. After lunch, students attend the matinee performance in the John Hirsch Theatre. The day concludes after our post-show Talkback (approximately 4:45 pm).
